Who is this for?

This course is for 11 to 15-year-old students who have not participated in an ISCA programme.

What will you learn?

This course will introduce our students to the wonders of Scottish history and culture, discovering its fascinating past, its unique traditions and its breathtaking scenery.

We will meet notable Scottish figures including William Wallace, Robert the Bruce, Mary Queen of Scots, King James VI of Scotland and many more.

The course focuses on experiential discovery, learning about these key figures by visiting the places they influenced, with virtual walking tours, class discussions and research projects.

Additionally, each student will share a presentation on their country and culture. This will help our students practice their public speaking, presentation skills, listening skills as well as develop their understanding of global cultures.

By the end of this course, you will be able to:

  • Know your way around Edinburgh and understand the importance of its key landmarks.
  • Explore Scottish history and culture, including the Wars of Scottish Independence, the role of the monarchy and unique Scottish traditions.
  • Learn about key figures in Scottish history.
  • Discover the beauty of Scotland as we look at the best sights in the Scottish Highlands and on the North Coast 500.
  • Understand different cultures and interact with students from across the world in our global classroom environment.
